As Congress seeks to make the United States Postal Service (USPS) solvent, it is imperative that individual state laws concerning the direct to consumer shipping of wine, beer and spirits are respected.
The 21st Amendment gives states primary authority to regulate the sale and distribution of beverage alcohol ensuring proper collection of federal and state taxes, product integrity, secure and transparent supply chain and restriction of alcohol purchases to those of legal age. WSWA is opposed to permitting direct shipment of beverage alcohol via the USPS.
