WASHINGTON, D.C., 11/19/2020 – Today, Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) CEO and President Michelle Korsmo released the following statement in recognition of the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) by the National Liquor Law Enforcement Association (NLLEA) as 2020’s Law Enforcement Agency of the Year.
“This year, the U.S. alcohol marketplace has been tested in unprecedented ways – from executive orders allowing on-premise delivery and to-go to a dynamic shift to e-commerce consumption, the Virginia ABC has met each challenge and answered the call of duty. This award is an important recognition of the vital work law enforcement agencies do to promote the three-tier system and the safest, most diverse and well- regulated alcohol marketplace in the world. Without their tireless efforts, consumer safety, choice and the state’s ability to efficiently conduct business would be at risk. Congratulations, Virginia ABC! Well deserved!” - WSWA CEO and President Michelle Korsmo
This is the third time Virginia ABC has earned this recognition, having been awarded in both 2009 and 2017. Virginia ABC works with approximately 19,000 licensed businesses across the Commonwealth.
