WSWA Hires Cody Tucker to Join Federal Affairs Team

May 02, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America President and CEO Michelle Korsmo today announced the hiring of Cody Tucker to join the federal affairs team as Senior Director, where he will serve as a lobbyist representing the association to elected officials of both parties in both chambers of Congress, as well as to executive branch agencies.

Cody joins WSWA from the Progressive Policy Institute where he served as Director of Public Affairs and Communications leading the organization's political outreach and advocacy efforts.

“Great lobbyists will tell you communication is key when putting your priorities in front of policy makers. Cody’s background in public policy communications gives him a distinct advantage as he represents WSWA on the Hill,” said Korsmo. “Cody is sharp, principled, and insightful. WSWA is stronger with him on our team,” added Korsmo.

Prior to PPI, Cody worked in the U.S. House of Representatives as Communications Director for Congressman Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.) and the fiscally conservative Democratic Blue Dog Coalition. He began his career as a campaign field organizer for the Democratic Party of Oregon working to successfully reelect Congressman Schrader and Governor John Kitzhaber in the 2010 midterm election. Cody is a Southern California native and holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Oregon.

“I am thrilled to be part of the WSWA team under Michelle’s leadership. For decades, America’s wine and spirits wholesalers have been a driving force for economic growth, opportunity, and prosperity in every community in America, while providing unmatched choice to consumers. I look forward to utilizing my experience to highlight the important work of our diverse member companies and advocate for our industry’s priorities among Members of Congress and the Administration,” concluded Tucker.
