The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) announced today the addition of three new staff members: Heather Calio is Director, State Affairs; Reid Teschner is Coordinator, State and Regulatory Affairs - both based in Washington, D.C. Arthur Rebisz is Digital Strategy Project Manager for WSWA Services, LLC, an affiliate of WSWA. He is based in Boston. All are new positions.
Calio joined WSWA from the National Rifle Association, where she was a state lobbyist. She is a native of New York’s Hudson Valley and is a 2009 graduate of Christendom College where she earned an undergraduate degree in Political Science.
Teschner comes to WSWA after spending five years working in issue advocacy and political campaigns including the campaigns of former Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.) and Rep. Robb Wittman (R-Va.). Teschner earned an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Tennessee in 2010.
Rebisz will work for WSWA Services, LLC, which maintains a strategic alliance with Drizly, the technology company powering a superior shopping experience for beer, wine and liquor. He joins WSWA Services from Southern Wine & Spirits, the nation’s largest alcohol beverage wholesaler, where he was a manager in their Strategic Programs Group. Previously, he worked as a product manager for Shooger, a mobile, location based start-up delivering discount deals located in Coral Gables, Fla., and DRT Strategies in Arlington, Va., as a summer associate. Rebisz began his career with CGI Group, a New York City-based global information and technology consulting firm. He earned his undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech and an MBA from Georgetown University.
Regarding Calio and Teschner, WSWA President and CEO Craig Wolf said, “Earlier this year, WSWA’s Executive Committee directed the association to expand its advocacy role and member services at the state level. These two hires will help the association deliver on this goal.”
Wolf said of Rebisz, “Working for WSWA Services, Arthur will serve as a crucial link between Drizly and wholesalers in support of our strategic alliance. His work will help wholesalers harness the innovative, technologically-savvy, entrepreneurial spirit of Drizly and in return provide to Drizly knowledge gleaned from wholesalers’ eight decades of brand building and local marketing expertise.”
“We welcome all three new team members and are eager to deploy our expanded staff in the field on behalf of America’s family-owned wholesalers,” Wolf added.
WSWA is the national trade association representing the wholesale tier of the wine and spirits industry. With 362 member companies across all 50 states and the District of Columbia, WSWA is the voice for wholesalers in Congress, the executive branch, the courts, with the news media and in communities across America. Member firms represent 80% of the total U.S. wine and spirits market.
